About Me

I grew up in Chicago suburbia where all the privileged kids reside. We had expensive purses, exotic vacations, and better cars than our teachers. Life was rough.

I went to college in Utah for a year and a half. Met some amazing people, but decided it wasn’t for me and moved home.

Then I studied abroad in Canterbury, UK. And instead of staying for 3 months, I stayed for 3 years. WHOOPS.

I met my husband Paul there (he’s from Canada!).

We moved to Victoria, B.C.

I’m kind of freaked out that I ended up in Canada, but it’s actually a lot of fun. Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.

I like movies, video games, eating carbs, laughing at other people’s misfortunes, music, perfume, animals, and other stuff too.

        You are soooo up yourself
And all those things you said about Adele were extremely rude and ignorant

You are an awesome writer!! And you are sooo pretty, you should become an author Lily!

      • Amanda: lolz.

Krissy: Thanks doll! I don’t know about awesome, but it’s been a fun learning experience blogging and becoming a better writer! I think the world would spontaneously combust if I became an author, but thanks for the confidence boost! xx

Due to me becoming increasingly bored at work with unlimited access to the internet I have set out to find new blogs to read and I have found yours through others! Sorry if I comment on old posts, that’s just because I’m giving your blog a thorough look over! 😀

Actually I always thought that I was the greatest
writer but now I have two better one’s right here
    in these comments 🙂

I will be calling back for a longer visit my friend 🙂
In the meantime if you fancy a trip into the darker
and more wicked type of Space then feel free to
drop by and… and if those skeletons get loose in
here just send them back, they always follow me

    • Not gonna lie, Andro, but your blog scares me so much. As much as I love naked ladies all my in my grill, I’m gonna pass! But you are welcome to come her any time you like!

      • Androgoth says:

        That is absolutely alright Lily,
my Space is rather dark and
full of horrors, but I will call in
        and look around later, maybe
add some of my thoughts to
your postings and if you call
        again you could bypass my
leading page and call into my
        Guestbook 03 🙂

Have a great weekend Lily 🙂

    Hi Lily,

I love your sense of humour and enjoyed reading your blog on Bikrim Yoga. My father was British and had such a brilliant and witty sense of humour.

    Cheerio!

    • Thanks Hungry Man! I don’t know how I’ve missed this comment since March! I’m so sorry! Thanks for stopping by and thinking I’m funny!

  4. Lily – I think you’re twitter account got hacked. Been getting DMs from you that say People are saying bad things about me, along with a link.
Got two from you, Edward Hotspur got one too.
You should change your twitter password if you havent already

  5. Hello, I’ve just noticed that I’m on your Blogroll (Either that or I’m losing my mind and I’ve seen this before) Thanks so much. I really don’t want to be “that” guy, but my name is a little off. The unwarranted “H” has crept back into the picture. No big deal.

  6. Hi Lily, I got a notice from Big Brother (wordpress) that you requested access to my site. I’ve have repeatedly queried them on how this requesting thing came to be…and they always assure me it has been taken care of…then…All my posts are available at http://liferevelation.wordpress.com. And thank you for being interested in what I write…I have followed your mother’s blog for some time and I greatly value her posts…she seems to be a truly awesome woman…the little apple appears not have rolled too far the tree.

    Be encouraged!

    • Hey thanks Stephen! She is a pretty great mom! It’s weird because I know I’ve been to your site before and commented, but this time when I tried to click on your name, it said your site was private. I am always interested in your writings! It just takes me a while to get around the blogosphere! Haha.

      Thanks Stephen!

      • I understand…the staff and I follow nearly 500 blogs, so we are all the time yelling across the office to each other or reading great stuff out loud…then I get to comment…which is my favorite part…we feel like you all are part of our family.

        Be encouraged!

PS: wordpress provides an awesome platform, but some times I have no clue what they are doing…but they probably feel the same way about me…except for the awesome platform part…hahaha.

    • Haha I was just joking. I don’t truly think I’m the best writer, but I do enjoy it. Thanks so much for stopping by and following me. I’ve never been to Maine!

    • Hah how did you find me on my own blog?!l You are probably the only person who thinks I’m cool. Hah! I love your name by the way. Thanks for coming over to my blog and giving it so much love! Umm and no, you’re the pretty one! But thanks! 😀

  8. Just found your blog by chance and thought I would give it a look. It looks okay. I have been following another Canadian woman, but her fashion sense is off. She wears horizontal stripes and makes fun of designer glasses. Are you a true Canadian or just a fake one living there because you married someone that lives there? What do you do for a living. Surely you just don’t lie around the house all day? Anyway, I think I’ll follow your blog and see if it improves. I believe in giving people chances. Sincerely, Will Shatner

    • Dear Will, I bet you think you’re cool now that you’ve figured out how to make me laugh.
I am so glad our paths have crossed in this big blogosphere! How lucky are we? That other Canadian woman that you are following probably doesn’t like being referred to as a ‘woman’ since women are old and she’s probably super youthful. She also probably has sweet Chanel glasses which beat out RL any day, but that’s just a guess. I’ll have you know that sitting around all day is a sign of royal blood. But you probably wouldn’t know that.
Hopefully my blog improves and that other Canadian girl gives you a hard time forever and always.
      Kind regards.

      • Dear New Canadian Friend,
I’m going back to my old Canadian Friend. Your comments are too long. She knows how to blow me off with fewer words. She stacks, racks and packs me away with a single sentence or two at the most. She does not drag my humiliation out. She ends it quickly.
        Sorry to have bothered you.
        Will Shatner

  9. Hey there, I don’t seem to be able to comment on your post so am writing here. My brother had a Rodriguez album when we were kids. I remember the album cover so clearly because I thought he looked and dressed like my brother haha. Obviously it was the other way around. Then about 5 years ago i saw the CD in sale bin. Loved hearing all those songs again and it is still on my playlist. Then I saw the movie last month. What an amazing man, and it’s so good to know that people like him exist. Life has nothing to to with material wealth. His lyrics are from the heart and ring true today.
The best news is I’m traveling to Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia this Easter. Rodriguez is playing!
Great blog, regarding Les Mis, I’ll take your word for it because there is no I’d pay to watch a movie with Russel C in it, even if he is a New Zealander haha

    • Hey! That’s weird that it wouldn’t let you comment on the post. But that’s amazing that you’ll get to see Rodriguez in concert! After I saw the movie, I immediately went to itunes and downloaded his music. It’s so good and catchy, and yes, like you said–from the heart. It’s also so true about material things meaning nothing in this life. I don’t think he would be the same, loveable person if he had become rich and famous.
I hope you have an amazing time in Australia for Easter! I’m so jealous of you!
Haha as for Les Mis, you’re not missing out on too much, so don’t worry. I mean, it’s pretty good, but it’s super long and a little boring at times…hah!

  10. I come from Chicago, moved to Seattle and then moved to French Canada for my husband’s job. Then moved back. A similar path of sacrifices.
Where do you live in Canada? I can’t believe how the winter in Quebec made Chicago seem tropical.

    • Omg crazy! We’re twins. I live in Victoria, B.C. so it’s actually not that bad. Could be wayyy worse. It’s just very rainy!
Have you learned French? I kind of want to but I’m too lazy!

  11. hhoayun1 says:

I learned French in highschool! It is not as difficult as people say it is; it’s actually really fun! By the way, I really like your blogs!!

  12. Love this Blog so much!! Ain’t Canada grand? I spent some time in Montreal when hubby’s job got transferred there. Canada and I had a love hate relationship… Mostly because I couldn’t speak the French. I can not wait to read more from this blog! Your sense of humor is awesome! I will let you know in advance, I will probably quote you in conversation and pretend your jokes were my own idea. But that’s totally acceptable because we live in different countries.

    • Haha omg I love you! I don’t know if I could handle Montreal with all the Frenchies. The French Fries. Let’s call them that. Definitely quote me! I’ll feel so cool. I steal people’s jokes and pretend they’re mine all the time. No big dealio.
Thanks so much for stopping by! 😀

      • You know whats GREAT about what you just said? Everything… But mostly the French Fries comment because it made me think of the poutine in Montreal and now I am reminiscing about my love of fries gravy cheese curds and other unmentionable, heavenly, crazy ass things they put in their food up there. I am not sure if it is a strictly French Canadian thing, but if you’ve never had it– it will change your life. Get after it. It makes dealing with all the Frenchies sooooo worth it. Have a Great Day

  14. Your blog is super fabulous! I love the new design, too, and everything you talk about is pretty relate-able. And because you are super fabulous, I would like to nominate you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. If you wish to accept (and I won’t be offended if you don’t), you have to 1) display the award logo, 2) link back to the person giving the award, 3) state 7 things about you, 4) list 15 blogs that you wish to nominate, 5) notify these bloggers of the award and the rules. The person that nominated me is here: http://theleapingllama.net/ Stay fabulous….

  15. I love fellow Chicago natives! You are automatically cool in my book, despite having settle in Canada 😉

I have yet to visit the country of Britlandia, but I did spend a couple weeks in Australia some years ago. That’s pretty much the same thing, right?

Looking forward to perusing your writing, which I’ve already come to enjoy over on your other blog.

    • Australia is pretty much the same, you’re right. Just prettier and less rainy! Ahh you live in Chitown? Suh weet! Maybe we’ll cross paths one of these days! Gahh don’t remind me about Canada….!
Thanks so much Pen, you’re too nice! I love your blog too! Already followed!

      • I grew up in Chicago (well, Wadsworth/Waukegan technically, but I spent a lot of time in The Sprawl /City too).
Unfortunately, due to being a military brat, I got stuck in a nowhere suburb in Ohio. I plan on getting out of here eventually. Hopefully.

Ohio has this sort of black hole thing about it. It’s not pretty.

Glad you like my blog. It’s not as frequent with the humor as your two, but occasionally I try for funny and not too depressing.

    • Why did I not respond to this?! I swear I saw it..maybe not?! Ahh thank you so much! I love your blog too! We Canadians (well, I’m not technically Canadian yet…) need to stick together! I need to do an epic awards post soon! Thanks again lovely!

    • Hi Grace! Sorry it took me so long to respond! I’m actually not from the UK, I just went to uni there. I’m originally from Chicago. I would love to guestpost on your blog though if you still want me to! Haha. I will check out your blog! Thanks for stopping by!
