Now you have to understand that this list is from the point of view of someone who previously didn’t work for cough*her entire life*cough and is now a full time nanny. If you’re a little slow to the pick up, that someone is me. Your pros and cons list might be extremely different from mine. And probably way better too. Because everyone thinks they’re so frickin’ great these days.
Pro:Β I get to play and be silly.
Con: I have to wake up at an hour where playing and being silly is the equivalent to death.
Pro: Kids are super honest and you always know where you stand with them.
Con: I’d rather not know.
Pro: I don’t have to get dressed up.
Con: I don’t have to get dressed up π¦

What’s the best thing about your job? What’s the worst?
I bet you make a great nanny, Lily. Sounds like it can be fun at times but trying at others. At least you’re not full, full-time like in that movie, The Nanny Diaries. The best thing I like about my “job” when it’s in full swing is that I can do it wherever I want. The worst thing is it’s not ongoing which I guess could also be a good thing. ;). Hope things are good with you.
Aww thanks Brig! So true! I can’t imagine what it would be like to be a sleep-over nanny and have that be your full time life. I don’t know if I’ll be able to have kids of my own…I’m too exhausted!
It’s so great that you can do your job wherever you like. That is such a blessing! Even though it’s not ongoing, it’s probably nice to have some down time every now and then! Thanks Brigitte! Things are good. Hope you are doing well!
Welcome to the Canadian workforce, Lily, unless you’re not really “part” of the workforce, in which case mum’s the word, winkety-wink. The best part of my job is I have to wear a blazer and that gives me shoulders.
Haha I finally am part of the work force! However, I am not unfamiliar with ye olde under the table work.
Lol good answer. Blazers really add a nice air of professionalism.
I’m about to go back to work full time too and I am excited and terrified at the same time. It just occurred to me that I haven’t really worn makeup since I had C, so I’m excited to actually be motivated to wear it. But the downside is that I have to go to the trouble to apply it. π
Dude Em. You’re gonna be greatttt! And you’re gonna look fly wearing makeup and being all professional and stuff. I’m excited for you! I don’t know how you do it. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Hello there. Working full time bites. We should work part time. That’s all I got.
Words of wisdom by Miss Audra. Seriously, I think we should apply this rule into society, pronto.
The best thing about my job is that I find it fairly easy and stress free.
The bad thing is I have to get up at 6am each morning.
Work is gay.
Work is gay. Getting up at 6am is the worst. That’s what time I had to wake up in high school. After four years of that shite, I decided to never do that again. That’s nice that your job is stress free. Nice to go to a place every day and feel like you’re doing a good job.

The best thing about my job…my coworkers are mostly quite fun to be around and well, I get a decent pay that I can pay my bills π Other than that…lets just not go there..haha! Right now is the month where my job is the most stressful….taxes *shakes head*
I think having fun coworkers makes a huge difference! I imagine that it would be so fun going to work everyday to be met by people that you really get along with. Decent pay is always great too! Ahh I have a couple of friends who are accountants and they would most definitely agree with you on that one. April is death month haha.
Right now the only bad thing about my job is the hours – 5:30AM to 3:00PM. I like the early afternoon exit, but the hour commute means the alarm goes off at 4… Some mornings it hurts more than other mornings, but it does hurt every morning.
Dude that is harsh! But it’s nice that you get off work at an early hour. I was always one to wake up early and have the rest of the day off whenever I chose my schedule as well. Works out nicely.
Yeah, I love having the afternoon and evening to get stuff done.
You know the pros and cons of my job, Lily… all too well.
Too true. I am quite familiar with your job! π
Hahaha. Definitely understand the getting sick bit. I work at a pharmacy in a hospital and in the space of 3 months I managed to get gastro, a cough and the flu. Whoopee! Pro is definitely seeing all the newborn babies from the maternity ward and then thinking ‘Excellent, I’ve had my baby dose for the day. Now I’m going to go home and do nothing because I don’t have to look after kids.’
Ahh yeah getting sick is terrible. I got sick again last weekend and I was about to quit because my body simply could not handle it plus the stress. But I managed to calm down and got back to work.
That is truly the best thing about working with kids. Going home and listening to silence. Hah we are the same person.
Haha exactly the same. I don’t have to deal with paste and children’s poo so you’ve got that over me.
Congratulations on your new nanny job! I’m sure the kids will give you lots and lots of funny things to blog about which con: wasn’t funny at the time but pro:is a lot funnier when blogged! I’ll look forward to reading all about it.
Haha very true. I always get so frustrated during the day and then when I come home I’ll tell my husband about how funny the kids were. Weird how that works out. But thank you! It’s a lot of work! I don’t know how people have more than one child, let alone 3.
